On Wednesday, September 24th, Students United for Reproductive Justice (SURJ) is hosting a free screening of the film A Quiet Inquisition as part of the IPAS campaign for the Global Day of Action for Safe and Legal Abortion. The screening will be at 7 p.m. at Varsity Theater and is co-sponsored by UNC Law Students for Reproductive Justice.
This important film highlights the devastating effects of laws that criminalize abortion as it follows an OBGYN in Nicaragua who acts boldly against the law to save lives. It reveals the reality of prohibition of abortion against the backdrop of a political, religious and historically complex national identity.
IPAS is a global non-profit that works to increase women’s ability to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights. Their Global Day of Action for Safe and Legal Abortion is on September 28th. Please share this event on Facebook and join us in solidarity to support this movement against the stigmatization of abortion.
